Potion Masters at newfest 2019

October 25th-26th, 2019 - We’re excited to announce that Potion Masters has been selected to screen at the 31st annual NewFest, New York’s LGBTQ Film Festival! Potion Masters will be in the lineup as part of "Hot Girl Mixtape", a 90-minute collection of shorts at Cinépolis Chelsea Theater on Friday October 25, and Saturday October 26th. March 10th, 2019 - Come and check out the NYC premiere of the short film Potion Masters at the First Run Film Festival, directed by Cameron Laventure and score by Samantha Owens. Potion Masters is a romantic comedy following a quarreling couple try to fix their relationship by experimenting with a series of magic potions. Follow Joni and Shireen on a night out as they grapple with the unexpected effects of the potions, mixed with the consequences of their unexplored feelings. More information here.

slow angels screens at the 41st AAIFF

July 28th, 2018 - Join us at the 41st Asian American International Film Festival for a screening of SLOW ANGELS as a part of the festival's Worth Fighting For shorts program. Directed by Ying Lu and scored by composer Samantha Owens, SLOW ANGELS will be screening on July 28th at 1:00pm at the Village East Cinema. Pilot premieres for new TV show

May 14th, 2018 - Come and check out the premiere of Principled, an NYU-produced TV pilot about a high school teacher, Carrie Marsh, whose world is turned upside down when her dysfunctional family relocates to her town. Written and produced by Showrunner Nicole Blade and scored by composer Samantha Owens, Principled will be screening on Monday, May 14 at 6:30pm at Tisch School of the Arts.

2018 NYU Film Scoring Competition

Apr 19, 2018 - Samantha Owens was selected as a winner of the 2018 NYU Film Scoring Competition! Join us as at the premiere of her score to Countdown, as it is performed live to film by the NYU Symphony Orchestra. PREMIERE OF F.E.E.D. video game

May 18th, 2017 - Come and check out the demo of the video game Fish Elders' Eternal Digestion at the 2017 NYU Game Center End of Year Show! Game created by Timothy Sun, Hang Ruan, Laurenz Riklin, Paolo Salcedo, Vivi Yu, and Hosni Auji, and score by Samantha Owens and Gavin Brivik. Fish Elders' Eternal Digestion AKA F.E.E.D. is a 3v3 multiplayer game which can be roughly described as basketball meets tug-o-war meets three-person potato sack race set underwater. You control one part of a single, amoeba-like body while your teammates control the other two. The game is a race to feed one's Fish Elder the most food. Prepare for some good natured trash talk as this game brings back the good old days of a raucous, fun, multiplayer experience! Preview of the gameplay here.


Short Film "555-SEXY" wins awards

May 2nd, 2017 - Huge congratulations to director David B. Jacobs, composer Samantha Owens, and the rest of the team for their win of the Audience Award at the First Run Film Festival! Also congratulations to 555-SEXY lead actress Hannah Edwards for her win of the Best Actress Award. Future festival and screenings information to come in the following months, stay tuned!

April 29th, 2017 - Come and check out the premiere of the short film 555-SEXY at the First Run Film Festival, directed by David B. Jacobs and score by Samantha Owens. “555-SEXY” is an absurdist dark comedy following dysfunctional middle-aged couple the Brussells, who both participate in extramarital affairs on the same night. As one thing unexpectedly leads to another, their parallel experiences threaten to sever their relationship entirely. More information here.

NYU's News and Documentary Film Festival

Feb 4th, 2017 - Come and check out the premiere of the documentary film Slow Angels, directed by documentary filmmaker and video journalist Ying Lu and score by Samantha Owens.  In Slow Angels, Director Ying Lu profiles three families with children with cerebral palsy from different backgrounds in Shenzhen. As they set off on distinct but similar paths to overcome the disability, these families struggle not to be segregated by society. More information here.
